Other Guidelines

Beyond national-level recommendations, pediatric professionals often draw on guidance from specialty societies, state and local public health departments, and individual hospital or practice protocols.

This supplementary guidance can address topics that are more regional, more specialized, or more specific to a particular care setting than broader national recommendations typically cover.

Because these sources can vary and update independently of one another, cross-referencing more than one when the situation calls for it is generally good practice.

As always, clinical judgment and direct communication with the patient's family should guide how any published guideline is applied to an individual case.
